About Car Nut TV |
The #1 Most Watched Local Programming Television Show In The Coachella Valley on Time Warner Cable! |
“Car Nut TV”, now in its fifth year on Time Warner Desert Cities, is hosted by two-time Emmy Award-Winning automotive journalist Steve Parker. Steve, who lives with his wife in La Quinta, has been covering our motorized world for over 35 years. He’s hosted live radio talk shows on KABC, KMPC, XTRA SPORTS 1150 and KTZN, all in Los Angeles, the nation’s #2 media market. In the Coachella Valley, he’s hosted long-running radio call-in programs on KPSI (920am) and KNWS (970am and 1140am). His popular automotive articles appeared in THE DESERT SUN every week for a five-year period, every month in the ALASKA AIRLINES in-flight magazine for four straight years, and his articles have appeared in every major automotive magazine and website around the world. Steve created and co-hosted “America on the Road”, the country’s first nationally-syndicated automotive radio show on a major commercial network; it’s still running after more than 15 years. He also created, produced and hosted “The Car Dude” segments seen for a decade on KTLA/TV5 in Los Angeles’ MORNING NEWS and KTLA NEWS AT TEN with Hal Fishman, and on many other Tribune-owned TV stations across America. He also was the automotive reporter for over a year at KCBS/TV2 in Los Angeles. |
“Car Nut TV” viewers know the incredible enthusiasm Steve has for the world of cars, trucks, motorcycles and worldwide motorsports of all kinds, and it shows in the passion that he brings to “Car Nut TV”. For more, visit the show’s companion Website at www.SteveParker.com and you’ll likely catch Steve online, posting his latest story or chatting online, live, with another Car Nut, anywhere in the world. There’s even more fun online 24/7, with contests, trivia, caption contests, photo albums, and online videos from “Car Nut TV”, and a special Website section for Southern California and Coachella Valley Car Nut fans, too, where visitors can print-out coupons and take advantage of other special offers we’ve developed with our advertisers. |
From Southern California to Tokyo, Japan, “Car Nut TV” travels the world to give Coachella Valley and high desert viewers inside and exclusive looks into the exciting world of new cars, trucks, motorcycles, auto racing and much more. For example, find out about the latest technologies of hybrid vehicles, the history and background of the auto manufactures, the auto business itself and why some cars sell and others don’t … and which vehicles his viewers should buy, and the oens to stay away from, too. Also, viewers enjoy Steve’s “insider” interviews with the automakers who design the cars of tomorrow. Steve’s 35 years in the business gives him an amazing wealth of knowledge and source of contacts, all available to “Car Nut TV” viewers right here in the Coachella Valley! |
To find out about the latest 2008 vehicles and even those beyond, sometimes so new, they are hand-built “prototypes”, viewers see them all in “Car Nut TV”’s very popular “Car Nut Road Test” segment. Steve regularly drives these vehicles on our desert roads for the test, as many of the road tests are taped here in the Coachella Valley. With this ‘local’ angle, viewers can appreciate and consider just how their next new car or truck might perform in the same environment, conditions and community. Sometimes, Steve is road testing vehicles so new that the only place he can drive them is on a race track, closed to other media, or on a manufacturer’s test track, which are often in “secret” locations. Anyone can see these complete road tests, share the fun and learn enough to make their “purchase decision” on “Car Nut TV” and On Demand. |

“Car Nut TV” also includes special segments with features from Coachella Valley and other Southern California automotive events. Special interviews with racing’s favorite drivers from NHRA, CART, and more are a regular part of ‘Car Nut TV”, too. Automotive legends and icons such as Lee Iacocca, Carroll Shelby and the “Godfather of the Pontiac GTO”, Jim Wangers, have all been guests on “Car Nut TV”, as well as celebrities including James Garner and other stars known for their driving as well as their acting prowess, also appear on the show. The $39 Billion automotive aftermarket is a big part of “Car Nut TV”, too, as the show visits Las Vegas every November for the gigantic SEMA Show, where everything and anything which can make a vehicle look better and/or go faster is on display, drawing more than 100,000 participants … all of them working in the auto industry all over the world! Apart from the major public auto shows, such as Tokyo and Los Angeles, which are always “Car Nut TV” stories, the SEMA Show is the biggest convention in Las Vegas every year, and “Car Nut TV” brings the SEMA Show, every “Car Nuts’ Dream” event, to Time Warner’s Desert Cities Channel 111 several times each week. “Car Nut TV” is fun, lively, entertaining, and fast-paced, because Steve Parker keeps the show moving fast as he moves from one outdoor location to another to show the cars, and not just “talking heads”!
The Motorsports Update is a two-minute feature on every episode of “Car Nut TV”, with Steve’s exclusive, inside look at all the major racing series worldwide, from NASCAR to Champ Car to ALMS and LeMans endurance racing to Formula 1, Grand Prix motorcycles and off-road trucks. “Car Nut TV’s” all-new “How-To” segment provides important consumer information in a fun and easy-to-understand format for all “Car Nut TV” viewers, and is generally taped on site at a local, sponsoring business. The new segment will cover maintenance and repairs most Car Nuts can do on their own, not only to save their own time and money, but also to properly judge when a service technician is doing their job right! From checking tire pressures to knowing how to replace a serpentine engine belt to knowing the locations of air, oil and fuel filters … “Car Nut TV” will offer this season, for the first time, “Car Nut 101”.
Other fun features available for sponsorship on every “Car Nut TV” show, intertwined between commercial spots, are the “Name That Car” and “Trivia” features, and new, short segments like these are always being developed for “Car Nut TV”. |
