Callaway Cars, of Old Lyme, Connecticut, has for the past few years displayed their exotic and USA-made wares in the 'Exotics' hall at the LA Auto Show, alongside the likes of Spyker, Rolls-Royce, Saleen and a very pricey, very few others. This year, according to our sources, Lotus demanded (and paid a lot for) more room for their exhibit, so Callaway got dumped from their usual spot --- and into the lobby area of the LA Convention Center! Is that any way to treat an American car-maker? In any event, this Callaway supercharged 6.0-liter LS2 V8 produces an impressive 616 bhp at 6,200 rpm and develops 582 lb-ft of torque at 4,750 rpm. The C16 does 0 to 60 in 3.3-seconds, and a quarter mile in 10.9 seconds. Top speed of the manual transmission coupe is 206 mph. Equally impressive is its fuel efficiency rating of 18 city/28 highway, but somehow we think the mpg test was done going downhill with a big tailwind. It is emission compliant worldwide, says the company's press material. C16's interior remains close-to-stock Corvette. And putting together these parts and pricing it all at just a tick under $120,000 is no mean feat.
