No, it's not a classic Lamborghini Miura or even a Honda CRX or Volvo wagon ... We know, that glass on the rear hatch threw you all off. In reality, it's the rear-deck of Chevrolet's plug-in hybrid concept called 'Volt', shown by GM for the first time in Los Angeles. Between the Volt, the hybrid Malibu, the Active Fuel Management multi-displacement system and the dual-mode hybrid automatic transmission in GM's full-size trucks at the show, that company won the "fuel wars" hands-down at the LA Auto Show. Now we could not have imagined making that statement even one year ago; but it appears that The General is serious about being a leader in alternative fuels, gas/electric hybrids, plug-in hybrids and hydrogen-based fuel cell EVs. For GM, this was an impressive show. It's often said that making changes at a company as large as GM is like "trying to turn around an aircraft carrier"; but once it finally does get turned around, watch out!
