CLEAN DIESELS FROM KIA

Kia, which is wholly-owned by South Korea's Hyundai company which makes everything from small "city cars" popular in Asia to huge construction equipment to gigantic ocean-going cargo ships. All that experience with 'work' vehicles has given Hyundai and Kia a tremendous amount of experience with diesel engines of all sorts, from small ones used to drive the front wheels of some of their smallest cars which are sold in Asia and Europe, to humongous multi-piston affairs which push some of the world's largest ships to their next port. With this diesel engine experience, Kia displayed a cut-away view of a brand-new "Clean Diesel Technology" which they are planning to bring to the US in 2009, earliest. The display reminded us of the "clean diesel" displays of many car-makers at the Tokyo Motor Show, where we had been just weeks before the LA Show.
